Urban forestry is a relatively young discipline concerned with the planning, establishment, and care of trees, forests, and other natural areas in urban and suburban ecosystems. Urban forestry brings together knowledge from ecology, forestry, planning, design, environmental science, plant biology, and social science. In this course we will learn about why we grow trees in cities and how different professions can work together to steward trees in an urban context.
