Undergraduate Garrett Hess is holding a prairie dog.

With the US Geological Survey Biological Resources Division I conducted field work with White Tailed Utah Prairie Dogs who either did or didn’t have Yersinia pestis. Different Samples were collected: whiskers, fur, blood , flea samples.

Moreover, right hind foot measurements were measured and gender and age were also recorded. Vaccinated baits and placebos were distributed on colonies. Tomahawk traps were set up and baited with oats and peanut butter.
