Photo: Joseph ZientekJoseph (Joe) Zientek has seen the fascination of the flora and fauna of both coasts, having grown up in Seattle before moving to Farmingdale, New Jersey. Prior to Rutgers, he volunteered with the Monmouth County trails maintenance crew and kept honeybees with his father. At Rutgers, Joe has conducted extensive research on native bee pollinators with Dr. Rachael Winfree, Dr. Daniel Cariveau, and with several graduate and undergraduate students in the Winfree research group. His George H Cook honors research culminated with a presentation to be made in summer, 2016 at the annual meeting of the Ecological Society of America. With friend and fellow-student Amanda Bevan, Joe helped to resurrect the Rutgers Student Chapter of The Wildlife Society under guidance of Dr. Brooke Maslo. Ultimately, he plants to go to graduate school to pursue a career in marine ecology so that he can work with communities to protect their natural resources.
